 "Toaster for Bagels" 2010-03-02
By Vincent Eugene (La Puente, CA USA)
Our toaster oven which we had for years finally quit. So we thought we would try a toaster that would

toast not only slices of bread but also Bagels, which we like a lot. We bought the Kitchen Aid brand

because we have a coffee maker of that brand which we like very much. It definatly not a chep toaster,

which is O.K. and it is advertised as a toaster that cnn toast Bagels. Well if you try to get the cut

side of the Bagel somewhat brown, then the back side comes out black or I should say burnt. What we

have to do is put the Bagel in at a lower setting, wait for it to pop up, take them out and turn them

180 degrees to toast the other half. I think it's a terrible design. Not very happy with this product

at all. We purchased the Stainless Steel one which is nice looking, too bad it's such a lousy toaster.

"The best toaster on the planet" 2010-02-18

I am a bagel fan. Every morning I must have 1/2 bagel and a cuppa joe. I've had many a toaster, and a toaster oven. No toaster comes close to this one. I've seen the Dualit (swanky w/the name and all) in action and tried toasting on it, at a friends'. I don't buy based on "name" stuff. I did my research and found this toaster with all its incredible ratings. I was not disappointed. The first bagel was heaven. I no longer have to worry about anything being burnt or over or under toasted. I've found the holy grail of toasters which happens to be this one!

 "Hassle-Free Warranty is a Blessing" 2010-02-14
By Ronald W. Hillman (Langhorne, Pa. United States)
I don't usually give reviews but toasters are an overlooked kitchen tool. I love toast and toasted type of goodies. There are so few effective toasters on the market. Why is that? It is hard to rate this product and the 2 stars are misleading. The KitchenAid toaster we received from Amazon.com turned out poorly. It worked fine for one day and then went kaput--the mechanism that allows you to push down and release the toast failed on the second day. The hassle free warranty from KitchenAid allowed me to return the toaster without too much "hassle" on my part. It took about 2 weeks to get the replacement and ever since we have been pleased. I especially like the way it toasts as bread has a crispiness on the outside and a warm chewy center on the inside. I also like how anything I toast has the right browning for my tastes. It is expensive but the stainless steel look is a plus on the countertop (an important factor with my wife) and it is heavy and very easy to use. We did have the Target toaster designed by Michael Graves, which toasted fine on the outside but it did not have the warm chewy center. It made the toast stiff on the inside as well as the outside. However, it is a good toaster for the money but not in the league of the KitchenAid. My two star rating is based on my initial experience and the fact that we have had the replacement KitchenAid for two weeks. This is not a long enough period to really evaluate a toaster, and if the first toaster worked like the present one I would give it a 5 star rating. My rating of 2 stars is a tentative grade and probably should be upgraded.

"It's Fine While it Works" 2010-02-11
By Versican (Midwest)
We bought our Kitchenaid toaster for about a hundred bucks in mid Jan 2009. We were excited to go from a 2-slotter (which broke after 12 yrs) to a 4-slotter as we have 3 little kids that enjoy toast. We enjoyed it for a year....it was nice to get toast and bagels toasted at the same time. It was not amazing -- it was a toaster and it did its job. Then, in early Feb, 2010 one of the levers quick sticking down. If I held the lever down, it would toast the bread, but I didn't want to do that. So now, we're back to basically a 2-slot toaster, a huge 2 slot toaster.

Really -- our toaster before worked for years and was not fancy or expensive...maybe a $10-20 unit we got for a wedding gift in 1997.

With my wonderful luck, it was a few weeks past the one-year warranty. But I figured I'd call Kitchenaid anyway. By their good graces, as a "one-time-favor", they offered to send me a refurbished replacement. I gratefully accepted, as I'm hoping it has been tested and will work fine. But in all honesty, just 3 weeks past the warranty and it to have a malfunction...not so good! I had fully expected this toaster to last us years with no problems.

I have such little faith in products these days. We try to buy items that will last, even if it costs a bit more. But things still break down too soon. I've had issues with my printer, crock pot, digital thermometers, tv, now toaster, just EVERYTHING it seems these past few years. At least they're breaking down under warranty usually! It has taught me to save receipts and boxes. But I'm really fed up with sub-par quality products that are overpriced.

 "Great toaster! Sharp looks." 2010-02-06
By Michael Shaeffer
Great toaster. Sharp looks. Toasts evenly. One bad thing with it. It's Stainless Steel and it marks. But anyone who owns stainless steel appliances and has kids knows what I mean. It's a pain to keep clean that is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. I work with all types of metals and they have never made a stainless product that won't leave fingerprints on it. If you don't like cleaning fingerprints off then I would recommend not getting this toaster.
