the only reason it's rated a 4 instead of 5 is that the pasta cutter isn't adjustable, and is somewhere near angel hair in it's thickness. I prefer a thicker pasta. mechanically it performs well.

I wish it were maybe a little bit wider, to make a wider batch, but it does a great job anyways.

If you've ever dreamed of fresh pasta on tap this is the closest you will get in your own kitchen lacking an Italian grandmother!
Making pasta dough is a breeze if planned ahead. Make dough and refrigerate. I snapped the appropriate attachment (easily identified) into the Kitchenaid drive point, followed the clear instructions and my first sheets of dough came smoothly through the rollers. A quick change of roller/cutter and the perfect fettucine strips emerged. Voila! the dough was ready to pop into the boiling water. It is a clever, but simple tool.

I have had the Italian hand crank version of this for years and found it easy to use, however, since I have the Kitchenaid stand mixer, why not make things easier? Wow!. Much easier. I have developed a recipe for a single serving of pasta that works like a charm, so there were no starts and stops using my new gadget. First, attaching the pasta maker is easy, although you do need to make sure it is aligned properly with the mixer. The first gadget forms the pasta sheets just as well as the hand model only way faster. The attachments that cut the pasta work well and I don't need 3 hands to crank, feed and pull the pasta off the machine. One warning and Kitchenaid specifically addresses this in the owner's manual. I, of course, ignored it. Do not clean the machine with the little brush they supply while it is running. The pasta cutter will snatch that little sucker right out of your hand and you will never, ever get it out. After making this mistake myself, I called Kitchenaid and asked if they could fix it and that I had made this foolish mistake one day after buying the items. They said they couldn't fix it,but would send me out a new one at no charge. Am I a Kitchenaid fan for life? You bet! That is world class customer service.

Love all things Kitchen Aid because they are easy to use right out of the box. This makes my dough perfect for pierogies, empenada's, ravioli's, and of course noodles. Can't make the job easier if you tried.
