Gave this along with drying rack and pasta recipe book as a gift. They have throughly enjoyed them and say they work beautifully.

This is easy to use and cleans up well. It's fun to make your own pasta when the KitchenAid system does all the hard work for you. Mix it, rest it, roll it, cut it, and eat it. Any extra pasta can just be dusted with flour and placed in a Ziploc and popped in the freezer - no drying rack needed!

This is my first pasta maker, so I cannot compare with other type of pasta makers.
My first impression is how well made these attachments are. Very substantial, tight fit, and well assembled. I normally use the mixed to make dough, and after few tries, I now tend to make the dough a little bit on the dry side. The reason is that if the dough is to wet/soft, it tends to stick more, and does not roll well. Even when there are still dry lumps in the dough, I just roll it once or twice more in the "1" setting and it becomes very uniform.
I made noddles, Chinese dumpling skin, wonton skin, and so on (you probably have guessed, I am Chinese) and it all come out great. Our family have never had such wonderful and fresh noodles since moving to the States. The quality of the noodle is MUCH MUCH better then the one cooked from the dried noodle bought from the oriental grocery store. Wonton skin are very good too.
The only thing I have not figured out is the dough crumbs stuck inside the roller/cutter... I cannot get them out - soft or dried. I really hope there's a simple way to open the cover to clean it.
Overall, I am very happy with these attachment. We use it so often now, and think it well worth the investment.

I bought these attachments back in 2005 or so and except for a few cleanings they've never left the shelf or have been used. Today I discovered the white plastic scrappers on the roller one is cracked at about a dozen places and I assume if I run it they'll crumble. This product either doesn't age well or needs periodic lube job.

My husband purchased this pasta attachment for my KitchenAid mixer for me for Christmas. The pasta is easy to make, and it is so much better than the boxed variety! I plan to purchase the ravioli maker and at least one other type of pasta attachment soon.
