 "KitchenAid Blender" 2010-02-22
By Pedro Augusto Bastos (Rio de Janeiro, Brasil)
Good product. Beautiful, Forte (strong), Simple to use. At first it seemed to have many buttons and functions. But they all have their specific use. A bit noisy, but less than the Oster BPST02-B Professional Series Blender that has 1 / 2 horsepower, 0.9 against the KitchenAid. The polycarbonate jar is tough, so the glass jar will not be missed.

 "Love, love, love" 2010-02-20
By Christina (Phoenix, AZ)
Ok... first the leaking carafe has been fixed so don't be swayed by those negative reviews. In fact, I love the carafe - it's all one piece. I make smoothies daily and my last blender had a million pieces to take apart and clean after each use. Granted it was one of those with a spout, which I thought would be great for smoothies. Turned out to be nothing but a gimmick that never really worked properly and just left more to take apart, clean, and no matter what u do bacteria will find its way in there. So I decided to go ahead and spend a little more and get a KitchenAid, which of course we know is typically a brand of high quality. Well, I think it absolutely lives up to it's name! Yes, it is annoying that it throws everything up to the lid at the first start. Meh. I can totally live with that, especially with how well it blends. My fav smoothie is about 8oz fat free milk, 2 tbs of chocolate whey powder or protein powder, a banana (or 2), a scoop of peanut butter, and 2 or 3 ice cubes - yum! It always came out a little chunky with ice (sometimes I throw in some frozen strawberries too), but this blender pulverizes it all!! Smooth and thick like a milkshake - delicious!

I've only had this a week, but I've already used it over a dozen times and I love it! The fact that it is so easy to clean allows me to use it more often. With my last blender, I always knew it would be a chore if I were going to use it. The carafe, although not glass (I was a little disappointed that it wasn't) is dishwasher safe and you don't have to twist anything - it just sits on top of the base. The base is heavy and solid and provides storage for the cord underneath. I'm very happy with my purchase and I recommend it to anyone - especially if you're like me and tend to keep replacing the $30 blender that has a million twist on pieces. Trust me u get what u pay for!

"Excellent blender but tighten the blade nut" 2010-02-08
By C. M. Snow (San Jose, CA USA)
I bought this blender to replace my seven year old Kitchen Aid KSB5WH which finally died from a bad motor. I was hesitant about getting one with a polycarbonate jar because I liked my old glass jar which was easy to clean and had a removable blade. However, I was surprised to find this model is very easy to clean, has a sturdy jar and is much better suited for margaritas and smoothies than my old one. It seems the shape of jar promotes better ice crushing and keeps the mix moving around the jar for a more even blend.

One fault which other reviews have noted: I got a leak at the base around the blade assembly after a month or so. But there is an easy fix. The blade assembly has a plastic hex nut on each side. You can tighten the assembly with two adjustable wrenches - one wrench for turning the nut underneath the jar and for one holding the inner nut at the bottom of the jar. Note that the bottom nut tightens to the left (opposite of normal). Be careful not to tighten too much or you risk stressing the jar or damaging the nuts. Cheers.

"Carafe leaks...returned after just over one month" 2010-02-02
By Vincent Plaza (Carlsbad, CA)
Well, I thought I finally found the blender for the family to make fruit smoothies every day with. Bought it the day after Christmas and for the first week, it was a dream. Worked flawlessly...and then the nut holding the blade assembly to the carafe loosened and started leaking.

I had read about others who experienced this and hoped that KitchenAid would have fixed it by now, but it looks like they haven't. I was able to tightent it and kept an eye on it every time I was going to use it for the next few weeks. I saw one more time that it got loose, so I tightened it again. But then, yesterday, it leaked again. Only this time, I couldn't tighten the nut no matter what I did! So, I returned it and I'm back to looking for a new blender.

I was only blending a mix of frozen fruit, frozen berries, bananas, and apple juice. Nothing else. I can't imagine that combination causing this to break the way it did.

"This blender is a beast" 2010-01-31
By Raisa Sigalova (St. Louis, MO)
Here i sit sippin a smoothie i made on this new blender ive had for about 2 months. I used to have a cheap $15 blender and it could not even crush ice. im a hard core smoothie drinker and having large chunks of ice just does not cut it (no pun intended). I saw the Vita Mix on tv and i was about to buy it but the $350 price tag is quiet steep for a blender. I just thought that there is no way a person should have to pay $350 to get a quality blendner. this blender is just as good as the vita mix except that u cant make hot soup with it. thats why i have a MICROWAVE folks. i dont need a blender that can heat things. plus the vita mix is REALLY loud and it takes like 5 minutes to heat up soup. so that means it will sound like your head is inside the engine of a Boeing 747 and i really dont need that in my house. This blender is crushes anything you put in it. Very good purchase.
